I've always wanted to teach, and as an IT consultant and software engineer, I believe I have the skills and knowledge to do it effectively. When I was offered the role of coding instructor at BSD, I knew it was the perfect opportunity. Now, I teach kids aged 8-12 about coding and computer science concepts. I've taught classes in Python, Web3, AI and Robotics, and I am happy to see my students learn about these technologies from me. Teaching at BSD not only provides me with an additional source of income, but it also challenges me to stay up-to-date on the latest technologies and teaching methods. In 2019, I joined BSD as a coding instructor and taught the ‘Phaser’ game coding ECA course. After a successful and rewarding first term, I further developed my coding skills while delivering various themed coding courses such as ‘First Steps in Coding, ‘Digital Creature Creation’, ‘Magic, Myth and Monsters’, ‘Code the Future with AI’ and ‘Build your own tech start-up’ utilizing HTML, CSS, JS and Python. Throughout my tenure at BSD, I have also taken on additional roles teaching LEGO EV3 robotics programs and conducting YFS Ideation workshops at schools and post-secondary institutions in and outside of Hong Kong.

During the last two academic years, BSD has extended its STEAM offerings to include VEX IQ/EXP/V5 robotics to provide a truly diversified portfolio of coding and robotics courses to students of primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong. As a part-time instructor with BSD, it provides me with flexibility to manage my time between the different classes that I teach. At the same time, I am able to supplement my existing income stream. It has been very rewarding to be able to learn coding skills and teach students who will need these skill sets in the future. I would encourage anyone with a passion for teaching young students to join BSD as a coding instructor.
